Anyone happen to know why the 461/2 aren’t flying today/tomorrow going to make for very busy VS449/50? Although I know loads have been light ?
I can only guess this is due to the slump in demand due to Coronavirus. VS and most airlines have said they are monitoring flights and there may be cancellations/consolidation.
What’s the route?
Not all cancellations are covid-19 related.could just as easily be a tech issue with the plane.

Huzzah for International Jet-setting !
I was supposed to be on it with my family. Blunt text yesterday morning saying flight cancelled. Now waiting to board later flight. Booked chosen seats 11 months ago. Now spread all around cabin. Oh well at least we are still going. Disappointed with given seats but can’t doing anything about that ! Would of liked more notice though.

It all seems a little strange as today's flights aren't cancelled suggesting its not COVID related. But then you'd think now more so than ever that there would be spare 787s around in case of going tech with HKG and PVG cancellations.

Must have been two very quiet flights if they've managed to move people and still have seats left to sell as well. Have a great time!
I'm booked on the VS0461 on the 20th March.
When looking at available for upper class saying no availability to book, but can see over 20 seats available.
I had a suspicion last week that they might have been thinking of consolidating this flight with the VS0450...
Fingers crossed this is not the case as I have internal flights that I would miss as a result, or at least let me know beforehand so I can get the 19th Flight.

re '20 seats available' looking at seat maps is not a good guide as not everyone selects a seat when booking even when it is free,
Given you fly on the 20th that is within the 14 days period when EU261 compensation would be payable and VS would want to avoid having to pay that out. And they know that if connecting flights need to be rearranged then people need as mich warning as possible.
Plus there are passengers wantign to come back to the UK and the numbers there may be more than can be handled by consolidating flights.

That's true. I'm flying on the 449 on the 19th and it's showing more than 20 seats available in UC. Although the load may be low, I fully expect some of those 20+ to be occupied.
I rang FC yesterday and understandably they couldn't advise what the strategy was regarding cancellations.
They confirmed 18 seats available in UC, but with the concern regarding internal flights from JNB, they happily changed my flight to the 19th.
Now confident wont be two days of cancellations, so should not have any issues making the internals.
Thanks

Are you on the 461 or the 449? I'm flying to JNB on the 19th

And I'm on the 449 on 22nd April.
Hope virus delays/cancellations are over by then, and all the World is safe.

I'm hoping they never happen. I'm going for a major family celebration and I will be gutted if I'm not there. Plus within a ten day period in January I had three major bereavements. Not to be there will be like a fourth one and I need this time to recover - virus or no virus!

Wildly optimistic I fear.
The Health Secretary said tonight the peak in the UK is probably still 2 months away.
This is only the beginning. I would expect major disruption to air travel until the summer at the earliest.
