What would you do ....I am in my window seat which I have booked and paid for and have the blind up to appreciate the view ....so someone asks / tells me to shut it because of whatever their reason ...what would you do . I have encountered this numerous times even in UC especially when on the 747s ....
If it was really affecting someone like sun shining through I would close it if asked appropriately. This is one of the reasons I dont like the Dreamliner where Virgin in my view treat you like a child by closing them for the majority of the flight.
Politely offer to meet them half way and if they object leave it right up! I sympathize, I too like to look out but do try to be considerate if the sun is shining right through at eye level.

Sit on the side where the sun isn’t. Eg, flying to the US, sit on the right hand side of the plane. The sun glare on the IFEs when the sun-side-shades are open does irritate a few passengers.
