Hi VizBiz,

Have never been to Vegas in August but last September was nearly 115, we always stay at the bottom end of the strip as its a bit cheaper and the pools of the Luxor and Excalibur are really large so plenty of pool space and loungers so you are not cramped in at all, not much shade though. Every where is A/C so you can pop in any place along the strip to cool off and some have those sprays of cooling water, if you go out early am or later in the day not as hot.

As you do not have a lot of time would recommend a helicopter
flight over Vegas and the Grand Canyon well worth it and not too expensive.

There are 100's of places to eat and drink so depending on the good old all day buffett or specialised, it all depends on your budget everything is huge so a normal steak can be 10oz

Go onto any Vegas shows website and it will tell you whats on over your time there, there are plenty of ticket booths along the strip so you can get last minutes for most shows, and also each hotel has its own theme and they are free to look around.

The Bellagio fountains are free and the TI shows.

Have a great time and enjoy, we are there in just over 9 weeks

DW, let me know how you get on at the Cosmopolitan, we haven't been back this year but as a Marriott plat it's a more attractive option on paper than the other properties locally, I am curious to see how it looks. A nice pool and gym are pretty useful for the experience there for us in summer :)

Looks like an interesting set of food options there too.

I will do.

I walked through the place in April and actually wasn't that blown away with it but wanted to give them a chance and admittedly the Marriot scheme has helped them. Also the fact you can 'double dip' and collect points on their identity club helps too.

I too am plat and have been reading that upgrades are hit or miss so I just opted to book and pay for a terrace suite so I get the room I want. I might get upgraded to the wraparound terrace but I'm not bothered if I don't get it.

At the moment I think the place is a little overpriced but then unlike most other places they don't seem to have trouble shifting the rooms, maybe that will change when they have completed all the rooms?

The gym(s) look good though, fully equiped with Technogym equipment and plenty of it. There's one gym in each tower. I found a few videos on you tube. The pools are the things I'm struggling to get a good look at but I'll be there tomorrow now so can wait :D
