Booking tomorrow first thing, likely on VS43/44 - whatever the flight is back from LAS to LGW on the 25th November.

I have the dilemma, work will pay full fare economy - or PE on a non-full flexible fare. Currently, there are at least 4, possibly more UC seats back - no rewards - a better load check welcome, but I see lots of both PE and UC available? Work is happy paying either, as they cost pretty much the same.

By time of flight I should be a well and true VS Silver, min, likely total of 20-22 TP's at this point, depending on how delta account on the internal legs am flying within US (at moment am one point shy of Silver for this year after 2 years of low travel miles).

I have miles to burn to upgrade on return leg, should I:
1/ Book the PE and hope, as a single traveller for an on-day upgrade - but will incur change fees, etc and likely be forced into buying an upgradeable ticket or downgrading.
2/ Book the E flight, which will already be upgradable. Use miles to upgrade. This would likely cost less overall to my personal pocket on what is essentially a work trip.

Both E and PE don't look overbooked to me, therefore, chances of an op-up are slim.

This is always the dilemma on VS - posted on another thread, but please can you be more BAlike in allowing every class of PE to upgrade. (maybe not virgin holidays code, I can see this being a long-term issue - but allow everyone else).

VS UC sale fare? :P

Good to hear, sorry didn't help out earlier.. must have missed this post. I would have booked the upgradeable ECO (cheapest upgradeable fare bucket will be an M), then using miles to upgrade into PE followed by UC if and when they became available. If nothing forthcoming you still have the option of paying a bit more from the company coffers to get the PE seat they initially promised you :w (again, assuming availability)
