Booking tomorrow first thing, likely on VS43/44 - whatever the flight is back from LAS to LGW on the 25th November.
I have the dilemma, work will pay full fare economy - or PE on a non-full flexible fare. Currently, there are at least 4, possibly more UC seats back - no rewards - a better load check welcome, but I see lots of both PE and UC available? Work is happy paying either, as they cost pretty much the same.
By time of flight I should be a well and true VS Silver, min, likely total of 20-22 TP's at this point, depending on how delta account on the internal legs am flying within US (at moment am one point shy of Silver for this year after 2 years of low travel miles).
I have miles to burn to upgrade on return leg, should I:
1/ Book the PE and hope, as a single traveller for an on-day upgrade - but will incur change fees, etc and likely be forced into buying an upgradeable ticket or downgrading.
2/ Book the E flight, which will already be upgradable. Use miles to upgrade. This would likely cost less overall to my personal pocket on what is essentially a work trip.
Both E and PE don't look overbooked to me, therefore, chances of an op-up are slim.
This is always the dilemma on VS - posted on another thread, but please can you be more BAlike in allowing every class of PE to upgrade. (maybe not virgin holidays code, I can see this being a long-term issue - but allow everyone else).
