When I fly out to SFO in a little under 4 weeks, I have a connecting domestic flight up to SLC from SFO T3 on UA (well, United Express actually). As I've got *A Gold membership courtesy of BD, I'm after a *A lounge to use in SFO before my connection.

I think I can use UA's RCC on the outbound connector - *A website doesn't say anything about restrictions, but UA's website says I have to be connecting to an international flight - am clarifying that with them. Anyone confirm/deny that please? If UA say I can't use the RCC, what are my options in SFO?

As an aside, I can't see a *A airline (apart from UA) flying out of SLC, so it looks like no lounge access there [:(][:(]

Cheers

You can use the RCC at SFO, I've used it many times. The only restriction is if you are a UA Mileage Plus member (they have to pay to use lounges on domestic flights), BMI *A Gold is fine (that's what I have).

I don't think there is one at SLC though for the return, I had that at TUS the other day, actually had to sit in the normal departure lounge [:(]

Thanks for that Kryten - got a bit confused on the RCC thing with UA's website [:I]

Sitting in the normal departure lounge shouldn't be too much of a hardship at SLC :D - at least there are smoking rooms and an "airpub" on the B concourse [y] (and smoking rooms and a Squatters bar on the C concourse :D)

Last year when I went to Lake Tahoe I had a connecting flight to RNO. At SFO I met up with two friends who had travelled "on the dark side" ;) but who had * Gold membership thanks to the status match. As a result we we able to get in to the RCC to await our flight - I as a guest of the others as I had not yet reached VS Gold.

The lounge was perfectly adequate and not dissimilar to the Crown Room at MCO. The receptionist told us that it had been voted the #1 lounge. We decided among ourselves it didn't speak much for the other lounges and I, thinking longingly of the Clubhouse in SFO not a million miles away, decided it must be #1 among the UA lounges. The only thing that I could comment on was the space

Thanks HL - everywhere's a comedown after the SFO CH :D Probably a good thing that I won't be in the RCC for too long then :)

One down side to UA's RCCs is "Premium spirits, wine and beer for a nominal fee." They are free with CO and VS. Grrr.
