Has anything been changed? I tried to get to the site this morning (saved on favourites) and got a box come up asking for my user name and password. No, not the V-flyer one, this was a general xp one. I'm puzzled, since I don't have that in place to let me get to the site. I've done a system restore, but it still comes up and naturally denies access when I've tried 3 times.

I managed to get in via a back door, but then got an error 401 message, to the effect that 'you naughty girl, maybe you've been trying to access something naughty - we might just ban your IP address' - this from the virgin site! Since I wasn't doing anything other than trying to get in via my usual route, I'm puzzled. Anyone got any ideas? I'd hate to lose access to this site... is this a virus - I run a virus checker each day... is it a bird, is it a (virgin) plane????

Same thing happened to me and it wouldn't let me on even when filling in my name and password. I couldn't get out of it except by restarting my computer and eventually got in by doing a system restore.

Phew, not just me then! Am so glad - not that you had the same trouble, of course.. did you get a similar message when you got half way in? Have emailed pix to ask him if he knows of any reason why this should be happening, but if I should drop off the face of the earth, you'll know why....[:?]

I just tried a few minutes ago and the same pop up box also appeared on my screen. Strange. Err, seems to be working okay now.

P.S. Wrap up warm today folks - it's gonna be another freezing day!

Many thanlks strawb - seems like there's some sort of bug crept in then. I have no idea how to sort it out, but maybe one of the guys can.

Yeah, cold here already and I'm hugging the radiator and creaming of warmer, sunnier climes....[:X][:p]

Hi - If those that have had this problem could let me know their ISP (AOL, BT Internet, easyNet, etc), as I have a feeling it might be related.

Pete, I'm with eircom (just to be different [:p]) ISTR that something similar happened a couple of weeks ago on another site when I changed pages but surprisingly on my PC it was Aer John's name that came up (he has his own laptop). The following day it was gone

Have any of you installed any updates recently from Windows/Microsoft Update? Let me know, I may have to open a support call for one of you go through.

Thanks,
Richard

I would have installed a patch a couple of days ago - I think on Sunday. You know what I mean - when the little yellow shield thingy comes on the taskbar

Ahh okay - if you look at your installed Update history, can you let me know which updates were installed on Sunday?

Thanks HoneyLamb!

Yes, I installed a security update at the weekend. It did happen after that, but not until a couple of days later.

And curiously, it was ok last night and again this morning...how bizarre...[?]

Not so sure, IIS has no bearing on this.

I can't speculate, I don't even know what IIS is! But it isn't a similar situation to when we had the Dubai thingy keep appearing then????

No, because everyone had the Dubai thingy and Pete came back from wherever he was apologising profusely at putting in a wrong code and this seemed to be specifically an XP thing. It seemed to correct itself, thank goodness

I'm pretty sure it's not XP, seeing as the people who have been affected have been on your side of the Atlantic I'm thinking internet provider(s).
