Sure there is some rule about bringing your own food aboard, I know there definitely is in regards to alcohol.

Jacq - are you on half term or something?

Thanks,
Richard

Nah, unfortunately not, that was only 3 weeks ago! Off sick with muscle knots in my back and shoulder (a flare up from whiplash when some idiot drove into me last year) [B)] The doc wanted to give me 2 weeks off but I think I'll go crazy...or end up having to open a bakery to get rid of all the cakes [ii]

Mind you only another 3 weeks and it's 20 days off for Easter hols - woohoo! :D[8D]

But Jacq's famous fudge brownies - surely VS would make an exception for these legendary gastronomic delights????[:o)]

I don't suppose there's anywhere online we can look at UC menus?

Our up coming TR will feature the menu's from Syd - Hkg and Hkg - Syd in UC. On the Syd to Hkg leg the menu featured four main courses, and also a guest chef. One starter, main and dessert had been designed by the Head Chef / Owner of the Glass Restaurant in the Sydney Hilton.

My SYD-HKG sector on 7th March also had that quote ("some dishes designed/inspired by a chef from XYZ") in the menu, but it seemed to make very little difference to the food on offer, with a prawn salad with 2 prawns, to a chicken dish that could have (and probaby did) just get cooked in a microwave - dry and not at all good [:(]

I've posted trip reports on v-flyer (with pics)

Hope you had/get better food than I did!

Well I was on VS24 last night from LAX to LHR. I don't know if the new menu applies to economy or whether it's just for upper class, but the food in economy (well - premium - same difference) was about the worst I've seen on Virgin. A salad to start that consisted of a cherry tomato and some iceberg lettuce, nothing else. A choice of Barbeque chicken, veggie lasagne, or beef stew with rice. A piece of cheesecake, a lump of cheese and some biscuits, a chocolate, and the usual coffee service. No after dinner brandy or baileys service (although there was on the way out). No choice of wines that I was aware of. Not brilliant. The rest of the service was, as usual, great though. :)

No, the new menu is not for Premium and Economy, these are changing I think some time in May.

The menu being discussed here is UC, tho' I've heard good things about the BBQ chicken. Did you try it? Someone else mentioned a lack of Brandy and Baileys service - I wonder if they're running out or something? Isn't PE wine choice normally white or red? Glad to hear the service was up to usual standard!

I had the beef, which was ok - nothing to write home about. Thought about the lasagne - I remember BA (ahem) had beef lasagne in economy in the middle of last year, and it was delicious! Didnt fancy the chicken - not a big fan of american style bbq sauces. (now give me a good South African style Braaivleis any time :)
I'm sure I remember having a choice of different wines previously (and by that I mean a choice of different whites/reds). Was a little disappointed not to have a glass of baileys to send me off to sleep - although had I remembered, I'm sure I could have asked for one.
Hmm - this reminds me... time to open a bottle of wine. :) *hic*
