Hi,

We are heading off to Barbados in July and have booked a private house in Prospect. Been offered a night security guard for an additional cost. Not having been to Barbados, I am not sure if this is necessary. Has anybody who has been have any advice, what are crime levels, do I need to be concerned??[?]

Thanks

Grebo

Crime in Barbados no worse than any other normal holiday resort IMHO. Petty theft is common (of course) but none of the violent stuff that other places (Jamaca for example) are known for.

Do you need a guard - not if you are careful, and who's to say he is not running his own ring. I would say not to bother, but of course I don't know the cost.

How secured is the house? Does it have an alarm etc? I stay at Sandy Lane when I go and this is very heavily guarded at the gates. There was that shooting/robbery by SL a few months back but Barbados seems a very happy place on the whole.

Hope that's ok.

Have a great time won't you. I'm sure you'll love it.

Interesting question, I went to the fourth test in Antigua 04 VA of course, and stayed at jolly villas, mate of mine dropped his walet with $400. anyway after an hour of retracing steps gave up, we went to the front gate and a gardener had handed in, money an all, anyway that gardener was $100 better off for that
