The trolley or the person???

I guess moving the trolley woul dbe more surreal and therefore might be more effective?

And just what's the deal with these slow people in supermarkets, who have to lean on their trolleys as they go round, ever-so-slowly????

And don't get me started on the ratio of handicapped parking spaces to non-handicapped ones..... most of which are always empty, but nonetheless stillmean you have to park a million miles away...[ii]

Believe me, I am pretty good at letting people go first, holding doors, etc. I really love all that old fashioned manners stuff. However when a group of people just expect me to crush myself up against a wall, or step into the filthy gutter, well the red mist decends.

I usually find the best thing to do is suddenly to find something to inspect in the sky, and walk right into them. With a bit of planning you can catch them before they fall, so they don't end up hurt. But the look on their faces as you wrap your arms around them in a great bear hug, to "stop" them falling, is a pure delight[}:)] An alternative is just to stop stock still, and glare at them as they walk around you. Again, the looks on their faces are great!

I tend to say quiet clearly " With just a little more effort, you could completely block the aisle!"

I get dirty looks, buy they do move.......

I often find that, if you carry on in the same direction but look down, people will get out of your way. Not always of course!

And why, oh why is it, that, when you're boarding to get on the plane (at the back) - someone always has to find their seat, but not get out of the aisle? Oh, no, they have to arrange everything, take off jackets, stow bags, all whilst creating a log jam of other passengers! So rude.... so thoughtless... do these people go to a school to learn how to be so inconsiderate???

I was trying to (subtly?) steer in back to airports and planes. Guilty a charged though, for drifting off topic!

Doh! Hoisted with my own petard I see :). What I meant is that I have the same problems with slow moving personnel in the airport as I do in the supermarket. But must admit it didn't come out that way.

To clarify a point, I meant picking up people and moving them. It makes a point. I have also taken people's cigarettes out of their mouth and put them out for them, but only if they smoke in a non-smoking area - logic being, if I can't have a fag, I don't see why they should enjoy one. And I guess that brings me on to something that used to bug me blue (when I still smoked) - I am fine with airports being smoke free. But please can they site a smoking room near the arrival gates BEFORE the queue for immigration. Even now I would still say it is a good idea, if only to improve the smoker's tempers before the queue, and (assuming the smoking room has glass walls like most seem to) to give all of us reformed smokers a chance to point at them and laugh!

PS Can they also make the smoking bit in airports completely closed off as it really does not work at LGW being in the middle like that (sorry but I can't bear smoking and can't wait for the ban next year).
