In the Clubhouse at the moment and sorry no menus as it's only just changed!!!;)So will try and put the details on as soon as I can, if no-one else beats me to it!

Might have missed this one somewhere, but noticed the clubhouse menu has changed too! It is now:-
Bloomin' marvellous- A dorrstep sandwich of white bloomer or granary bread with your choice of British cured bacon or herb bangers with Ketchup or HP sauce.

The English (which my husband had and said the sausages were the best he'd ever had! took a piccie which I hope to download at somepoint!) A hollowed out toasted crusty white roll stuffed with British bacon, herb sausage, roased tomato & scrambled or poached egg.
The Clubhouse Classic - Which is essentially the signature breakfast (which I had of course washed down with champagne!)

One for you Fun-guys! - Toasted crumpet, topped with butter field mushrooms and white truffle oil

Looking forward to getting on board to see the complete new menu - and try it out of course!!:D

Thanks for the quick updates guys, (don't you just love this site! :D[y]) I like the sound of toasted crumpet and mushrooms in the clubhouse and I think I could then manage on a couple of portions of rhubarb crumble......mmmmm crumble....... Still got fruit in the scones though I see [:(] they should be plain with jam and clotted cream, you don't need anything more [V]

A question from a UC virgin (pardon the pun), due to fly in May.

How much of the food is already 'put together'? For example, looking at the new menu (thank you Lifebuoy), is the main meal of steak, fries, creamed cabbage, carrots and garlic pesto butter supplied by the caterer as a plated meal or would it be possible to have just the steak and fries? (I'm a meat and potatoes gal!)

I'm assuming the sandwiches will all be pre-made, as I can't imagine the crew in the galley with a loaf of Mothers Pride! Shame though, afternoon tea sounds so good except for the fact I'm such a plain eater and don't do chutney, mustard or pickle! But I'm sure I can make up for it with scones, cream and cakes, if I really, really have to ... :)

Marbled chocolate pound cake doesn't ring any bells as a traditionally American breakfast food. But hey, it's cake, an acceptable food any time of day or night.

Sorry, I've been distracted by the menus! Any responses to my actual question would be much appreciated.

Hi wraf137 and welcome to V-Flyer

My son, Aer John is a picky eater and "allergic" to vegetables [ii] He has managed in the past to get the steak and fries minus all the other bits and pieces.

I'm not sure how I feel about the new menu ex UK especially as the bangers and mash have returned - albeit not the radioactive mash! [:0] Unfortunately when I see Porky White sausages, I just have a mental image of these white sausages on a plate [:$]

Fear not - they're award winning Porky White being the brand and reputedly a treat even for non sausage lovers - according to the site blurb.

I dont think the return menu from MCO is new
Sauteed chicken breast served with saffron rice, baby bok choi & lime & fennel cream sauce

I had this dish earlier this month flying between SYD and HKG. I didnt like it [:(]

Bit mixed on the outbound menu, I guess you cant comment unless you've tried it, but it does seem rather "lower class" to me.

Hmmm maybe I'm picky. Dont like curry, allergic to nuts (so the pesto butter thing is out unless you can ask for it not to be added which is a pity cos that meal sounds nice) and I find pasta bland and a cheap filler you give kids when you cant be bothered to cook. :) :D

Does anyone have any news on the menu to and from India. My understanding is that this is a different menu to cater for the tastes of the passengers?

Looking forward to my flight back to London at the end of the month even more now.

I've read this forum and used the search feature as well. The forum seems to indicate a member posted a link or copy of the new UC Menu but I can't seem to find it.

Can anyone please help?

Hi folks
Sorry for the delay, this is the first opportunity I've had to get on-line ( well I am on holiday!)

Just to give you an idea of what we ate from the new menu and what we thought of it!

We both had the soup, which was really good, especially with the warm garlic bread:D

I then had the Chicken Tikka Masala, which was reasonably good for airline food, the nan bread was a nice touch. My Husband, James had the Sausage & Mash !! He thought it was OK but hoped it was gonna be better!

For pudding, James had Rhubarb crumble & Ice cream, which again was good but not outstanding. I had the elderflower jelly which was just weird[n] It had lot's if ice in the middle and didn't really taste of anything. Had to make up for that by having cheese and biccies [y]

Afternoon tea was Fab. The sandwiches were very tasty and the scone to die for!! James then had a butterfly cake which he really enjoyed and I had a chocolate caramel shortbread, which was really scrummy [y]

Look forward to trying the menu on the way home, but not too soon though!:D
