So have we lost the light bites for good??? New menu sounds OK but still seems a bit structured, but will have to find out for ourselves in a few weeks.

Nice to hear from you Elaine, didn't like the sound of the elderflower jelly but rhubarb crumble sounds good.

Fully understand you'd rather be enjoying yourself than sitting at a computer - you'll be pleased to know it's still cold here and don't enjoy the sun too much!

Hi,

This is fairly related. Do VS serve hot chocolate in Upper? My sons are always desperate for it when we travel BA CW and they always say how it's exclusive to FIRST passengers. :(

Thanks,

Tom

Yes Hot Chocolate is served in Uupper Class (have never had it, but have a copy menu from VS28 last year, which confirms availability!)

I agree about the elderflower jelly...though I think I'd have been intrigied too...like I was once intrigued by a lavender cheesecake; I got about half way through before I admitted it tasted like filth, and then ordered a sticky toffee pudding and scoffed the lot. Oink! You can't go far wrong with that dessert, so where is it VS [?] ;)

Excuse the lateness in joining the party...

I think I prefer the ex-USA menu, as the "Best of British" seems to = mashed potato [:$]. (My taste buds with respect to anything mashed or slushy have been scarred for life by school dinners, I'm afraid.)

So, it'll be curry, curry or curry for me. Hardly great when you've parted with hard earned cash or miles to fly Upper, to only find one thing on the menu you would enjoy. Compare that to recent flights on SQ, UA, and NZ, where I've felt spoiled for choice.

I can't help feeling it was designed by the marketing department.

It would probably be better to have one "Best of British" item on each menu rotation, rather than an entire menu of it, for fear of alienating people's tastebuds!

As it happens, I doubt I'll be flying VS until the latter half of the year, so it looks like I'll thankfully miss it.

Cheers,
Mike

And after all that Jamie Oliver has done for school dinners [:0] Actually, take it from one who sees them everyday, the menus might sound nice with stuff like salmon, but they don't taste any better! Well, except the butterscotch tart which has always tasted good, Jamie oliver or not!

I just had the pork pie, leek and potato soup and cottage pie on flight to Tokyo (Pork pie was "lunch", the rest dinner). The pork pie was delicious. The soup was just fair (it didn't have the croutons) and the same for the cottage pie. However, I have to say the English wine was suprisingly delicious. Sort of like a Riesling. In fact, one of the flight attendants gave me a bottle to take home. Definitely worth a try.
