Evening

We are flying LHR-SFO next week. I've flown into SFO loads of times but this time we will be in UC :).
Also different is we're renting an apartment rather than hotel.
The owner needs to know what time we'll be arriving at the apartment so he can meet us.

So..question is. flight is due to land at 1250. What time shall I say to him, allowing for immigration, baggage reclaim, shuttle bus stops, and getting to Telegraph Hill?

Many thanks
Andy

Welcome to the sunshine, er, hail, er rain, er sunshine :) (all seen from my window here in SOMA).

I am a bit uncertain what you mean shuttle bus stops? My record is 40 minutes from touchdown to my apartment which is a 15 minute cab ride from the Airport just next to downtown, that was with no checked luggage and first off the aircraft, otherwise it usually another 10-15 minutes for luggage (with priority), but from leaving the aircraft to being out is usually no more than 20 minutes (I always sit in 8-10A and get out within the first few people).

I would recommend taking a cab, it is like 40 bucks to Telegraph Hill tops.

Two things, make sure he checks the arrival for delays, and you can use the SMS feature on v-port to coordinate!

Cheers

Thanks Sky. Shuttle buses..was pretty tired when I wrote that! I meant the airport shuttle vans that take like six-eight people airport - door. So if I said 1 hour touchdown - Telegraph hill (assuming taxi rather than shuttle van) - does that sound realistic or a little optimistic?
Thanks

Maybe a bit optimistic but possible. I would say 1 hour to 1:30. Also if you happen to come in just after another 747 and immigration is packed, or if priority luggage isn't working you are in for a wait.

I just came in just after a Alitalia from Rome, watching a pack of Italians trying to navigate US Immigration was really painful and took far much longer than it should. The immigration officers where relieved when they realised we where of VS19.

If there is more than one of you then a taxi will be a lot faster (driving around town stopping for people to get off and unload bags), more convinent and less stressful (timing wise). Price may not be that different for 2 people.

Andy,
Enjoy UC and enjoy SF. Bring your walking shoes! Also you might do some searches on the Forum as we have several good threads about member experiences in SF -- restaurants, bars, shopping, etc.

Regards,
