Heathrow T2 to close - official

Just been announced officially that T2 is to close when T5 opens in 2008.

Had been speculated on but now confirmed regardless of whether Heathrow East gets planning permission.

More building grief guaranteed for the foreseeable future, subject to planning consent of course.

Are they going to name it LHR East or will it be kept as T2?

As I understand it the confirmation is only that T2 will be closed. There is no confirmation yet that it will be demolished or that they are going to build anything else. Although the ultimate intention is to proceed with the Heathrow East scheme this is still subject to planning consent - although I can't imagine why it would be refused.
