I'm flying to SFO on Sunday and the only treatment available is the tanning booth; Two questions - if I do it will I go orange and secondly will my colleagues at the rugby club beat me for being so vain? [V]

Sorry Doc can't help you with whether you'll look orange but do let us have a photo if you do it, perhpas you could pose with your rugby mates (treat for the girls on the site).

Decker is the expert on this one - hopefully he'll be along to give you his expert opinion.

You don't go orange, but you will get off the plane a slightly darker shade than you boarded...

Seriously, I know Decker has sampled this experience so come on, how about a "TSR" = Tanning Spray Report? I fancy doing it for a laugh but am more than a bit apprehensive.

Will you go Orange? I understand not. Will your team beat up on you? Well it would be rude not to do!

I understand you may need a couple of spare kex due to colour transfer.

Prieffer is hiding his light under a bushell on the subject of tanning booths I think.

Nope. It looks decidedly un-orange.

You have two options: The "do-it-yourself" Decker (where you're "at one" with the machine/booth) or the "full-service" Reiffer (where a proper person sprays it on.

Either way, it's an experience I'd recommend every human being goes through at least once in their life - even if it's just for a laugh...

You could always use a bit of surgical tape on your skin to mask out the name of your team before you are sprayed...

You go a realistic brown. If your team CAN beat you up you probably deserved it ;).

Done it at LHR and LGW now. Develops over 8 hours or so and looks realistic.

Well from what my friends say about tanning, maybe the spray on tan is the best deal in the CH. They say these type of tans cost about $50.00 so pretty expensive compared to a normal tanning bed.
