The last aircraft in the fleet is being UCS fitted as we speak:
G-VSEA A340-300 Plane Sailing

This only leaves G-VAEL A340-300 Maiden Toulouse with J2000 seats. This aircraft will leave the fleet in November '06 so will not be refitted. It will be used mainly on the LHR-LOS route. So u have to be pretty unlucky to fly on this aircraft!!

Cool - thanks for the info vscss [y]

(How does that leave the state of the entertainment systems in general, as a result of the refits?)

Am I right in thinking that most of the 343s with the UCS don't haven't yet been fitted with V:Port in economy?

None of the a343 have V:PORT in any cabin. As it costs so much to fit V:PORT it is unliely they will get it any time soon, all the A343'S that have been suite re-fitted have oddesy and the remaining J2000 A343 has arcadia

When G-VAEL leaves the fleet in November, you can say goodbye to Arcadia, as this is the last aircraft in the VS fleet with this IFE.
The other aircraft that do not have v.port but odyssey are unlikely do be reto-fitted with v.port due to the cost. And odyssey is still a good IFE compared to other airlines!

VS are now focusing on the refit of the A340-600's with the new premium and economy seat which should be complete by summer '06. With the IFE handset above the tray tables!

Bit of a silly question, so please excuse me, but how does this affect the current fleet of A346's ? - Are they too having a face lift upfront, or staying as they are and only the newbies having a refresh upfront ?

Cheers.

All the A346's already have the Upper Class Suite.

Having just arrived in HKG on G-VOGE with girlfriend, her first time on VS and she definitely wasn't impressed with the seat and legroom in Y.

Hope VS get this much needed improvement done very quickly.

The current Y seats on the A346 have more leg room in seats DEFG with around 32 inches per seat.

The ACHK have around 30 - 31!!

So try to sit in centre section as more inches to play with!;)

Does anyone know if G-VSEA has actually got UCS now or not as she currently appears to be in service. Both LHR movements and here show her flying in late March and into April. Although there is a gap between 17th Feb and 22 Mar [:?]

This may have been discussed before, my appologies if it has, but does anyone have any photos of the new Y seats, IFE setup (with remote above tray), etc.

I think it's a great move moving the remote to the seatback. It always seems as if larger customers have a hard time getting them out when they're in the armrest. Probably easier to service also, with more room to work.

vscss, since you seem to be up on the info. I know someone else also asked... any plans for the 744's to get new seats? I'm a "little" suprised that they're refitting the 346's so soon, seeing how they're brand new. I was on a 744 in November, and she definetly had some tired looking seats and IFE screens. I forget the reg though.

The A340 are the only fleet getting the new seats in Y although Im not sure if this includes the A340-300 as well.

I'm on VS350/VS351 in the week beginning May 15th, and although the outbound seat map shows UCS, the VS351 on May 21st is still showing as J2000. Is this likely to change based on the refits/retirements? It's not really a big deal ,as of the two possible options, the UCS outbound is better for a night's sleep anyway.
