Last month I booked a mile qualifying flight to Miami in the knowledge that it would take my balance up to 40,000 (enough, at the time, to get a free flight later in the year). Obviously I paid more to get the mile qualifying fare. But when I go to book the free flight I find its now 50,000 for Miami! Did I imagine the 40,000 or did they increase the number of miles required in the last few weeks? When I booked the flight, I opted not to get the online booking bonus miles in favour of being able to spaek to Virgin personnel to confirm that I would have enough miles for the second flight. Any comments or advice as to whether its worth approaching Virgin about it appreciated. Thanks
Naww Gerry, you are not crazy.
Two points that maybe helpful.
The award levels changed and silver benefits increased. Silver members now get a 25 percent bonus. Info on VS's Website
There is no longer a online booking bonus. I think that ended 31DEC2005.
