It looks as if the 2 of the 3 classics are on there way out of the VS fleet for good- or at least they will be in the desert for a while- have a look at the pic below- they are now void of any virgin titling. A very sad day- almost the end of an era!Anyone know whats happening? With major D Checks due are they being sold on? Alan can u help?

Not too pointless, I'm the same way, I'd love to take both an aerial and a ground tour. I'd especially love to go inside of some of the older planes that are there, but I doubt they let outsiders in them.

They look really smart still in the new paint job.

Can anyone tell me where in the Mojave these planes are? We may just pay them a visit as we pass through in August.

Thanks

You want to head for Mojave airport, located at the north end of the Antelope valley (just north of Los Angeles) and near Edwards Air Force Base.

A group pf us on the V-Flyer Las Vegas social made the trip there and its a fab experience, although you are not allowed out of the vehicle, so you cant exactly run around and touch the planes, but its still a great day out! Nick is right in that the VS aircraft are no longer there though.

Check out http://www.mojaveairport.com for more information and travelling directions.

More information here and here

Pictures of the V-Flyer trip to the Mojave can be found in the blog that Derby Dave and I did..

In the entry for that day, you can also see pictures of the group breakfast at McDonalds, where one of our number paid for his breakfast, and that of his Lady, with his Black Amex card.
No clues as to who that may have been though. [V]

Hold on didn't we also stop off at Burger King on the same outbound journey? I didn't have two lots of breakfast though!

Anyway I digress, Mojave is worth a visit. We did spend more time travelling there and back than at Mojave, but still worth visiting. An awesome sight, but a sad one too. There is a restaurant/cafe facility there that was quite reasonable. When we were there, one of the Police helicopters came into land, and grab some lunch!

Thanks,
Richard
