LHR and LGW Express Upgrades

When you get to silver or gold status within VS flying club, you are given a number of vouchers that entitle you to a free upgrade on the Heathrow and Gatwick Express trains from london to the Airports - known as HEX and GEX vouchers. Voila!

At least Virgin don't fly into Stansted or we'd be swapping SEX vouchers. [:o)]

I have five HEX tickets that I could do with swapping for GEX tickets. They're the new ones so valid well into next year and should be getting another ten when we requalify for AU on our Oct trup.

just figured out they are for the Heathrow Express trains and not the VS flight. Still, are they useful if I plan to go into the city for a little bit as I have a 10 Hr layover at LHR???

They just upgrade you rom Standard Class to First Class on the Heathrow Express. There are Gatwick Express equivalents. You still need to buy a standard ticket, which is £27 return I think. The Heathrow Express is a great way to get into London, taking only 15 minutes, as opposed to the tube, which can take a while (have not done it for years!). They leave every 15 minutes too, so you should be able to make the most of your layover.
