Have a RTW ticket ticketed by VS. However, my onward flight from Newark is on Singapore airlines (non stop). Can I use the VS clubhouse as this appears much better than the shared lounge used by SIA . I hold no status with VS so cant get in on any Flyer Club cards.

Thnx

Jonathan: The SQ EWR-SIN non-stop does not offer First class rather Raffles and Executive Economy. There is no flight from EWR to SIN with First service, only JFK.

SQ uses the SAS lounge. The SAS lounge is nice. I flirted my way in. Also if you are Star gold or traveling Raffles you can get and I am ceertian there are many more ways. Raffles is also allowed in the VS CH but only after 9PM. IIRC there is no food service for SQ pass.

Enjoy the flight. I sure did. Kinda crazy getting off a plane after 18 hours.

Unfortunately, the answer is going to be no, unless you have PPS Club membership with Singapore Airlines, which is the only other way to get into the Clubhouse in the absence of an VS ticket or AmEx Centurion.

Thanks

I do not know the defining answer to this question but feel strongly that badlynx would be allow into the VS CH in EWR after 9PM without any further status or plastic.

According to aardvarkdave post of his trip report in Raffles/Business on a GE ticket on SQ21 EWR-SIN, he was offered access to the VS CH as a Raffles guest. His profile notes that he is a VS Silver cardholder but that has no baring on SQ lounge access; well in theory. I sorta remember popping into the CH when traveling on SQ21 asking if Raffles guest were allowed in. IIRC they confirmed that they were. There are many TRs on internet that confirm this.

There's a choice of 2 lounges, Virgin (pre-security) and SAS (after security). I wanted to go to the VS lounge on account of better food, but it turns out they won't let you in before 9pm, after which time there's no food served! Still, as it turned out the SAS lounge was much better located (right next to the departure gate) and in fact very pleasant. There was a decent spread of snacks, rolls, fillings, lots of fruit and cookies. The only downside is that at present it lacks internet terminals (you can access on your laptop if you have one) as it's being refurbed. They should be back in a few weeks. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
