I am not against preserving them, far from it. But what is the point of preserving something if no-one can see it. I think the exhibit on the Intrepid is good.

I concur I think intrepid is a fitting resting place for G-BOAD.I too was lucky enough to fly on her in 94,she is a shadow of her former self but I enjoyed visiting, She was a lot cleaner than the one in Seattle. I passed G-BOAA's wings and tail plane going up the M1 as I was heading for LHR in May 2004.I have seen pictures of an AF aircraft with graffiti all over it.

I think the Barbados pictures must be fairly old. This was how she looked when I saw her in the uncovered hangar in Nov 2004 (and got some great photos when we stopped by the road)- by August last year when we went back, the hanger roof was on (but had experienced some hurricane damage)and it was much more difficult to see her. They were supposed to be opening her as a museum but when I asked locally nobody seemed to know what was happening.
She just looked really sad...made me quite emotional.

Looking at those pics, thanks for posting BTW, it is still hard to come to terms with the fact that we will never see her fly again.

Just to resurrect this thread.

Looks like the NYC concorde is having a holiday in Brooklyn while the Intrepid pier is being rebuilt. Also looks like it will be under cover - at least temporarily.

Link here.

Referring to the Manchester Concorde (G-BOAC) I have heard of plans that they are to build sheltered accomodation for it but the timescales for this is unknown.

It always seems to be in good condition on my regular visits to the Viewing Park where it is. And yes it does get cleaned; the DC-10 front end there recently got cleaned up you wouldn't believe the grime that was on the other side before it got cleaned.

In case anyones interested G-BOAC is licenced for weddings too and this takes place in the rear part of the aircraft holding around 60 people.

I took a tour on it 2 years ago on a bitterly cold day (Sunday 19th December), sat in the Captain's seat and I remember seeing G-VBEE taking off on its flight to MCO...2 months later it left the VS fleet.

Heres a link about the different types of tours available on G-BOAC including the dates when the tours run.

Hope this helps!
