Thanks James, thats how i recall it; no cranes or noise from construction, the main road was being widened but that was at the back of the Jumeriah beack so you didnt really come into much contact with it.

So i guess if anybody wanting to go to DXB is really bothered at the thought of construction, the Jumeriah beach area should be absolutely fine and free of concern

The Hilton and Sheraton and the Grosvenor House hotels where all this construction was, are much further along the beach than the Burj and Jumeira Beach Hotel. It was way past the Mall of the Emirates and the Emirates Golf Club and also beyond the Palm, Jumeira where there was also a lot of construction. You might have been able to see the cranes from the Burj but you wouldn't have been able to tell the scale of the building. I think this particular construction was entitled Jumeira City and as I said on one of the phots I counted 15 skyscrpaers surrounding these hotels.

There was also a lot of construction on the way into and out from Jumeira, especially around Burj Dubai but nothing like the scale of this
