Not really. The only thing v:port is missing on that list is a touch-screen, and having used them before on other aircraft, they're not actually that great.

Looks to me like a different companies version of V:Port. To be honest I'd prefer it without the touchscreen, with a remote you can sit back and relax with it in your hands under your blanet or duvet and not have to stretch to change channels or anything.

Also i fear with a touch screen with the endless use it could easily loose sensitivity in key areas of the screen resulting in people practically forcing their fingers through it to try and get it to work.

They also get covered in grease/dirt/scratches very quickly, REGARDLESS of what the manufacturer claims about it's durability. [n]

How long is it going to take BA to fit it's fleet with AVOD,it took them about 5 years to paint out those horrid tail designs:D

On the 777 going out to IAD last week the seat back screen(funny grid pattern on it when switched off) was touch screen, made it's limited content easy to display, without having to play hunt the controller down the side of the seat.

Seeing as BA has such a large fleet, I think it's going to be even more of a lottery than when VS introduced UCS.;)

From what I was reading BA is planning to do this pretty quickly, along with the NNNNCW seats, painting an aircraft is a tricky subject, apart from the cost there is also the lost money from the aircraft being in the hanger,so most airlines wait until the aircraft comes in for a major check to repaint, unless of course it needs it badly, changing the tail logo wouldn't be high on the list of corp. expenditures I would think.

I would still imagine it's a mammoth job changing the IFE system on every seat on the bus,not something that can be done in a couple of days.

from what I remember reading they are figuring 18 months or so,which to me would be amazing if they manage to do it that quickly, though saying that, with the age of their fleet, well the 744's im wondering if these are coming up on D checks etc,in which case it would be an ideal time to do this anyways.

At least with them fitting out the 767s first I won't be as disapointed about EWR getting them instead of 777s.

But yeah, touch screens are pretty nasty, but the last couple times I've flown BA the controllers were either in a really bad state or locked with some crude device to the arm rest.

AA have the touch screens (obvuiosly not AVOD!), and they leave a funny little grid on the screen. You also have to bruise your finger just to get them to respond- the problem with touch screens is that they get very dirty!

Silly BA

I think it will be great - making BA amongst the best once again
