Boston Hotels

Hi all,

Looks like the autumn trip to the USA I'm planning will now take me and the other half to Boston instead of the West Coast. This will be our first time visiting the city, so any particular recommendations on hotels?

I stayed at the Lenox a couple of weeks ago and found it was a very nice hotel, with decent-sized rooms (ask for a corner one though). It is located on the busy Boylston Street, which is close to a few shopping centres (Prudential and Copley Place), and runs parallel to Newbury Street (upmarket shops).

Opposite the hotel there is a Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, BK (I think) and several restaurants such as Atlantic Fish Co, Chicagos, Abe & Louie's (Steak house) etc

Check http://www.tripadvisor.com though too.

I can recommend the Nine Zero hotel. I stayed there last time I flew to BOS. Very nice hotel

The Back Bay Hilton just round the corner from the Lenox is ok and a lot cheaper.

Add the Royal Sonesta to the list - Cambridge Shopping Mall across the street, and a spectacular view of the Boston skyline.

It's also within 5 minutes of 2 "T" stops which inreturn will have you in Central Boston within 10 minutes.

I agree with andrew.m.wright, the Royal Sonesta would be my choice too. Don't forget to visit The Cheesecake Factory in the Cambridge Mall, it's a real must.

Yeah, I've stayed there too, but did prefer the Lenox. The latter is also closer to stuff....

We stayed at the Omni Parker Hotel (one of the oldest in Boston I think) in March last year.

It was berated a lot on Trip Advisor for the small rooms but we were only there 2 nights and found the rooms not too small compared to UK standards, but I supposed compared to US standards they were.

It's an old world style hotel with really good service and in a good position for getting around.

Over new year the Hilton was $160 a night cheaper than the Lenox whilst I like the Lenox it certainly isn't good enough to warrant that sort premium,regarding the location I can be in the prudential centre legal seafood in under 5 minutes from either hotel:D.

One hotel to cross off the list is the Copley Plaza,living on past glories.

I will add another vote for the Lennox for its charatcer, friendly staff, proximity of dunkin donuts/starbucks (as above), as well as legal seafood being within throwing distance, a branch of the cheesecake factory is too, should you be shrimped or lobstered out.

Hi,

I stayed at the Hilton Boston Logan Airport on 14th April before flying AA F to Hawaii and from 21st to 23rd April ( cheaper than the back bay Hilton and I was getting triple points with my HH promotion)

I was able to echeck in the day before and get upgraded to an executive room facing the downtown core over the bay.

I was able both times to check in at 1pm and go to my room (top floor 10th)
Rooms are quite large, good soundproofing with a good tv and a/c)
Bathroom is fine.

The Executive lounge is very good with a good breakfast buffett then evening snacks and dessert ( open from 6am until 11pm apart from 1-3pm M-F)
Connollys pub on the lobby level is good for a snack and Berkshires restaurant is good.

The fitness center is very good and the pool is fine.

Ther is a regular shuttle to all of the BOS terminals plus the Subway (T stop) at the Airport station- 5-10mins and you are at the Aquarium with one/two further stops until the State station.

It is also connected to the cental garage by covered walkway and then you can take the walkway also to terminals E ( BA/VS -very handy) and Terminal A ( Delta).

Coming back from downtown and arriving at the Aiport T stop if the hilton shuttle was not there I took the Airport shuttle regular ( one goes to A/B other goes to C/E) to A ( first stop and walked the walway to the hilton)

If you do not mind relying on public transportation the Logan airport Hilton is very good ( admittedly it is not downtown)
