Extra 10% from Amex

Just received a mailing from Amex offering an extra 10% miles free with any transfers of Membership Rewards points to FC before 31 May 06. Not sure if this is new but I wasn't aware of it before now.

Have not heard about this promo myself, currently have about 20k MR's sitting there so may just transfer the lot and get the extra 2k. Is it a targetted promo do you know?

Don't think it is targeted. The information was part of a small booklet. The only clauses are that the offer is valid until 31/5/06 and VA FC T&C apply. To transfer points call Virgin on 0870 161 6051.

The same brochure has details of a 25% bonus onepass miles offer. Minimum transfer 10000 MR's - quote code 25028 to the onepass service centre.

I'm sitting on 100k MR's myself and was keeping them there in case I needed to transfer them somewhere other than FC. The extra 10% is tempting though!

Funnily enough was about to transfer some, but glad I waited! Is this for al types of FC-linked AMEX?

I presume so, nothing in the leaflet to suggest otherwise. I haven't given them a call to confirm the details though.

Seems odd that you ring FC to transfer miles from your amex. Can't quite get my mind round that

Well in the end I decided to transfer 17k MRPs into FC miles. When I logged onto my FC account there were the 17k miles plus a nice little 1700 miles bonus from American Express [y]

Great news Bazz. Out of interest how did you arrange the transfer - via Amex or FC?

I just logged into my Amex account and transferred from there, already have my FC account set up with Amex Rewards so just selected Flying Club, put in the amount to be transferred and that was that. Took 48 hours to appear in my FC account.

Thanks guys for bring this to my attention, as had seen nothing about it. Transfered online from my amex account 80,000 miles yesterday and got an 8,000 miles bonus today. Next problem is trying to get find an available UC flight to spend them on!

Until the end of May '06 according to the leaflet from Amex

Just a reminder if you have points to transfer that the offer ends on the 31st May. Have been using my card a lot and just transferred another lot of points to get the additional 10%! Using them on a Gulf Air First ticket which are a lot easier to get than an UC one.

Anybody got any insider info on when they might run this promo again? I've got 5000 miles sitting on my AMEX account, and I'd quite like an extra 500 miles.
