Does any one have any experience fo flying in J with klm, im going to vancouver in november with my family, and would really like to know what the seats and ife on the flight are like.what about the lounges in schipol is it any good ? Any help would be great:)
I flew with them to SFO a couple of years ago can't remember a great deal except they were cradle seats - very similar to the old BA CW, a very good seat pitch though - managed to get 4-5 hours on the way back. Food was excellent with menus specifically numbered for each flight and orders taken and everyone was served individually.
IFE - can't really remember a great deal except they had noise cancelling earphones and most - if not all of the films were in english.
Lounges - at LHR they use one of the shared lounges - think it may be holideck - not great but nice and quiet and the usual snacks/drinks. In amsterdam they have a huge lounge - which was very busy, and quite smokey (but that maybe cos my gf smokes!) Also they had beer on tap which you poured yourself - very good!!!!

I've flown KLM J a couple of times on their 747 combis. These are the oldest seats. Good pitch, reasonable recline (but not flat). Their 777's have a newer seat with more thrills but still not flat.
The IFE on the 74's is pretty naff, the 77's have v:port equivilant in Y, so I assume is equally good in J... I did a trip report LHR-ICN on KLM back in April. http://www.v-flyer.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=11998

On their 777 and 330s they have the new World Buss Seat which is much like the J2000 config with AVOD and the same offering I think as on the NW 330. They have the extra privacy screen and are not that bad.
On the 744 and MD11 they have cradle seats which are a bit better than the old recaro seats similar to that VS had on the LGW fleet. They don't have as much pitch but it's reasonable.
The worst one is the 76 with less seat pitch and I don't think the seat recline as much as the 744.
