I've been watching the new BA adverts, and I have to say I'm impressed. They seem to have shrugged off the patronising, slightly aloof days of Saatchi & Saatchi and moved to an altogether more approachable image.

The dolphins dancing in the clouds, the soundtrack, the soft images. Given a choice between a £29 BA flight or Easyjet, Ryanair or even bmi; the BA option suddenly seems more attractive.

It's the best soundtrack for an airline ad since BA used "Up on the Roof" many years ago IMHO!

Not seen them yet - are they still using Delibes' 'Flower Duet' music...? I think that music is going to be permanently identified with BA.

Yeah I've seen them several times now (unlike the VS TV adverts) and I am quite impressed with them too. They are much better than the old ones.

Ahh.. just seen one on ITV2.. Music is a version of "Leaving on a Jet Plane" (written by John Denver) sung by Sophie Barker of Zero 7.

Very floaty ads.. and quite subtle..

Yeah same here, I didn't like them at first but they grew on me.

BA are still playing the old classical "saatchi & saatchi" music when boarding the planes though!

not seen the new advert yet - what channels is it playing on?

I like them too.

The only problem is that when I'm about to go on holiday (with VS) I drive everyone at work doolally by humming "Leaving on a Jet Plane". I won't be able to do that now otherwise they will think I'm travelling on BA [:(]

HL,it's not that,it's that the darn song will now be stuck in my head for the next 2 days [:p].

Following my recent mini rant about the VS emails i've been getting, then this thread coming up,had me thinking, what are the great TV ads and the worst?

For me the great one's are the one's I remember, such as the B-Cal one's,the worst..has anyone watched the latest from UA ? they make the Saatchi & Saatchi ads look like master piece's of advertising.

If someone can find a link to it online it would be appreciated.

I see with those fare prices that this new pricing is a Willie Walsh job. He did the exact same with EI short haul, looks like he's doing the same with BA short haul.

Thanks Paul, now that is a great airline ad [y] to the agency that came up with it.

Yeah that was a big pile of doo - doo Dave - I thought at first it could have been a dog food commercial - must have cost them all of 20 bucks to make that one![:w]

Thanks for links Paul/rcslt. The one from the guardian has very nice clear audio. I have to agree, now that I've seen it, that it has a very nice feel and appearance to it. I've been quite impressed with some of BA's adverts in the past, especially the space station one that aired here in the U.S.

I would probably agree with that [?] I like the whole BA one whereas I just like the ending really of the VS one when the music kicks in etc.
