Can you help?
Im gonna be 5 TPs from moving up to silver , whilst the extra benefits arent worth that much, would still be nice to achieve it all the same[:I]
Im looking at a couple of flights in US anyway (2 internals booked to fit current itinery, couple still to be booked) - with a few partners to choose, obviously Im leaning towards them for miles & TPs if possible...
Looking at Y - so if I take a direct flight, its under 2000miles... so dont earn anything... fair enough...However:

with a couple of my options if I take the flight via another city with same airline, it bumps trip over 2000miles. Time isnt overly important to me (i.e. a slightly earlier checkout & 2-3hrs longer to travel , vs later checkout & direct flight) .. so basically:
Is the "via" flight counted as 2 seperate flights for TPs or do they take the total journey?
I fancy its the later, but with these things it would be nice to make sure :)

I stand to be corrected on this, but if the flight from A to C via B is on one ticket, it counts as one flight.

One way to get a TP in the us is the America West flight from BOS to LAS. I have done this s couple of time, not for a years or two though, and certainly not since the 'merger' with US Airways.

We used their VisitUSA air passes wg=hich, at the time were excellent value. I did a google search and found a link to the America West website to get details, but when I clicked on the link it defaulted to the USAirways home page. [?][?] I know the websites are in the middle of a 'change over' period, so don't know if this is permanent.

Failing that, you may be 'forced' to buy a ticket in the front seats to get your tier point. [8D];)

Thanks...
Pretty much my concerns.
Id consider paying a little extra to get the TPs , but if Im not gonna - then I wont bother :)
With HP (pre merger) I think they pretty much operated as a point to point airline - so the sector would have to be 2000, rather than the overal journey... which is fair enough. Although their booking system has worsened past few days & Ive more or less ruled out HP flights (even though they do fly the route I want direct, i cant get the flight details to load through the new booking portal).
