Is it me who is having a bad hair day, or have Virgin withdrawn the 1 or 2 mile per £ spent cards.

A friend was keen to sign up and whilst telling him the benefits, I went to look where it was and it no longer seems to be on offer.

I also no link to it from the Virgin Atlantic website under financial section.

anyone ?

The Virgin money credit card link say that the site is currently being updated.

It seems strange that it has been removed from the VS site.

Mrs Buns would be devastated if the 1 for 2 miles was to disappear[:(!][:(!]

It looks like there's still a phone number on the website though, both for new customers and existing customers.

Indeed,it would be a nice thing to have a 2 for 1 creditcard over here.

Same here. Not sure how I'd have felt if I'd realised it was linked to MBNA BEFORE I signed up....[:#]

Think they might lose a lot of custom if the miles were withdrawn. Two here, for starters....[?]

We recently cancelled our citibank credit cards after mistake after mistake. I would rather it was not with Citibank - at least in the UK that is!

HSBC run the john lewis/waitrose "partnership" card very well in my opinion!

Just looked at the Virgin Money web site. I see the credit card page has been restored but with no mention of the "miles" card. This obviously means you can no longer apply for one but what about us existing customers? [:#].

The VA website has mostly removed the links to although there are a couple of Virgin CC links that do not lead anywhere - notably on the other Financial Services pages - here.

I too hope they're not getting ready to discontinue it as I will most certainly move as I have done before when benefits are reduced.

Just phoned the Virgin Money members shop - They have confirmed that they won't be accepting any further applications for F.C mileage cards![:0] No reason given either....

Thankfully existing card holders are not affected and will continue to earn as usual - They did say to watch the space as something new is in the pipeline.....[:?]

Ouch, how long before they pull the plug or water down the benefits for existing cardholders???

Stranger and stranger.. I have tried to find out what is going on, but have been told that the FC credit card was 'pulled a couple of days ago' with no explanation being given to telephone staff. [:0]

They have been told that there will be an announcement 'early in July' or possibly before that. The announcement will be made on the website.

As far as they are aware, current cardholders are unaffected. :)

It is disconcerting though. [:?]

Being an optimist, could it be that the PROPER Flying Club credit card is about to be launched at long last?

they have also withdrawn the 10.9% virgin card as well, sounds like a full redesign of the range...

That's based on the assumption that a possible 'new' card is still issued by MBNA.......

While I agree that citibank doe's make some mistake's,they are also pretty good about fixing them, the biggest moan I have about them is that they tend to mess around with the rates for no reason,my postion is a little different in that my cc transactions go through them and I earn thank you points for those :D,so the thought of being able to earn VS miles instead of thank you points has me jumping up and down....Of course there is no way VS will go with Citi, but it's still nice to dream.

I think citibank in general are probably very different in the US to the UK. We have used them for both normal banking and credit cards in the UK and because they are realatively small in the UK (only 5 branches) you do get the feeling that everytime anything went wrong it was a new experience and therefore nobody knew how to resolve it etc. In terms of banking they have definitely ironed out a lot of the problems over the last year or so.

Im only thinking multi national because VS serves many countries and a multi national would enable VS to reach more people, though in the past that doesn't seem to have been a priority [n].

That would be my thinking Nick, I can't believe FC would be without a mile earning card since BA and most other competitors have them. The only thing is that there has never been a Flying Club branded card ... hopefully this will change now.
