Hi,

We have booked 5 nights at the Flamingo. We normally like to stay at The Mirage but we have have booked some 5* hotels in Beverly Hills & Santa Monica so our budget didn't leave much for Vegas.

I was wondering if anyone had stayed here and what they thought of it?

I have stayed in the Flamingo Hilton twice - it's not as well-known
as (say) the Luxor or MGM Grand, but IMO, the price and location
can't be beat.

Some of the room have views of the strip and/or Bellagio fountains,
but even the inward-facing rooms have a good view as the central
courtyard of the hotel is lushly landscaped.

However, the reason why we chose this hotel twice is the location;
it is within easy walking distance of Caesars Palace, the Mirage,
The Venetian, Ballys, Harrahs*, Paris, Alladdin and Bellagio.

* for free shuttle to/from the Rio.

Slightly OT but the Wyndham Bel Age West Hollywood is worth going to for a drink in the bar. even better to stay at as you can walk out for Dinner etc to Sunset.

Yup, I've stayed here before - we got bumped from Caesars to the Flamingo for 2 of our 3 nights there for New Year 01/02 (and got a rather nice compensatory package :D)

Quite liked the Flamingo - a good, solid hotel, perhaps not the finest in luxury, but more "traditional Vegas" if you like. The rooms are a good size, well equipped and they have some pretty good gambling tables (I well remember an early morning finish there after doing pretty well on roulette - but don't be thinking the cocktail waitresses will have any good beer left, it was all "Coors Light" by that hour in the morning *shudder*)

Cheers

Michael
