Hi

I am planning a trip for new year to New York. I have found a deal on a website for a good package price but the flights are with Continental. At first i was pleased as i think i can get miles with my Virgin FF card but am now worried what the service/comfort will be like.

Has anyone travelled with them recently and have any thoughts. Their website says the plane will be a 777 or 767-200. Atleast one person in the group travelling is worried about leg room and IFE.

If anyone could help me i would be very grateful as if im wasting my time i could pay extra to go AA.

Thanks

Seat Guru reports 31" pitch on 777 and 32" on 767.

Almost all a/c have personal screens but not VOD - you can see their current offering here.

This might be the silly or obvious thing to say - but can you not find a Virgin flight that meets your requirements/price/dates of travel. There are plenty of kind souls on here who can help you to find the best price available once they know the dates etc?

I flew with them from Las Vegas to Newark 4 weeks ago, i thought they were great. Service was great, crew was nice and friendly and very attentive. Aircraft was in perfect condition.

I will be flying on 30th December to 4th January. Dreamusa.co.uk i think their called quoted me £550 for flights with continental and New York Helmsley hotel. Its the cheapest deal i can find and i have searched for hours.

I would like to use Virgin again but the price goes up £80-£90 more. So if Continental are similar or ok i'd be happy.

My mum will be taking here wheelchair with her as she cant walk for long periods.

Its just hard knowing what to do for the best and to keep her comfortable.

Thanks

I've flown with them a few times before on 777's and the only complaint I had was that they play the same movies both east and west bound.

I haven't flown CO mainline, just CO Express, which was operated by ExpressJet. I was quite pleased with the service, just a couple quick hops, SYR-EWR-SYR as part of my SYR-EWR-LHR-EWR-SYR trip last November.

Despite there being horrible weather in EWR on my return (which resulted in our VS aircraft getting struck by lightning on approach, and caused some 100 ExpressJet aircraft to be out of position), the service was quite good- I'd do it again.

Granted on an RJ service, all airlines are pretty much the same, but it was decent.

I know some CO One-Pass Elites, and they always have decent things to say about the service.

I still second that you should go with VS. You do know that there is a requirement for being a v-flyer--that you can't fly a route that VS offers if you don't fly VS :D

The 767-200s that CO use on their services across the pond to places like LGW, MAN, CDG, ZRH etc have all been recently refurbished. They now have new seats, individual IFE screens and the 777 style boeing signature interior. A.net has two photos: http://www.airliners.net/search/photo.search

I really wouldn't worry, their service to EWR is always great. Yes you don't have vport but speaking to a lot of people their food and service in Y is good. Their BizFirst service is fantastic and is the only way we get to New York as the stress of getting to LHR for UCS isn'tn worth the inconvenience for us.
