Amex - 2 miles per pound?

Did I see it was possible to get 2 miles for every pound chagred with Amex on one of these messages?

Some people did get this, a while ago there was an offer on AmEx Gold where you could get the card with 2 points per £ spent, and 4 points per £ spent with VS!
