When you hit gold you can open a family account so that your kids' miles are added to your own. Does anyone know if you would also recieve the relevant tier points to help with your gold renewal?

Cheers

Alas the simple answer is No.

Family account members do not get Tier points and will stay at red no matter how much flying they do. The good thing is they get full base miles for the class even though they may be paying a lesser (child) fare.

From the Terms and Conditions:

"Family Account members will not receive any tier points or membership recognition for any of the qualifying Virgin Atlantic flights taken."

Phil

P.S. Worth noting also that Family Account holders only get miles on VS flights - not partners.

Thanks FamilyMan that clears that up. I guess it is appropriate that given your name you would know the answer.

No point in booking myself, wife and 6 kids onto a UC flight to get 40 TPs then!
