Is the Virgin Atlantic CC all it could be?

I had a look at the BA P+ - £120 annual fee, but 50% more miles per £ - Doesn't look like a good deal to me (spending about £20kpa on the card) although I suppose you do get a companion that can actually be used with the BA card. Compared to the VS paid card at £80, you only get 1.5 miles/£ compared to VS 2 miles. Of course with the VS card you have to put up with MBNA [n]

If you have an amex plat or cent card the P+ is free, Mrs jag's costs about C.£30 a year when combined with a free amex blue card.

3x miles on direct BA purchases but the fantastic deal is the 241 voucher triggered at £10k spend,with 2 cards, 2 vouchers a year for 20k spend and it halfs the number of miles you need to spend.2 J USA returns cost 100k miles with the voucher.I have made twice the number of reward bookings with BA in the last year compared to VS in previous years.

Let me get this right Jaguarpig because what you are saying is not on BA's website (Which has very few details anyway). If you spend £10k you get a 241 voucher that allows you to book available rewards at hald price - right? You also say Mrs Jag got a P+ for £30 by having an amex blue? Or did she get it on the back of your P+ card/Amex Centurion/Amex Plat combo?
What you are saying certainly puts the BA P+ in a different light.

Firstly, before heading off to Seoul I had a bit of a splash on some new suits, then a little shopping at LHR.

Simon I have had this happen top me twice before with different MBNA cards whilst on holiday. ItÕs a bit of a pain in the backside. There is one way to stop this happening thatÕs quite simple.

I now telephone M.B.N.A and A.M.E.X and inform them that I am going on holidays I tell them the destinations that I am visiting and the dates I also make sure they have a contact number for me.

This worked to my advantage 2 years ago whilst after a cruise stop in Barbados my card details were cloned and used for a fraudulent purchase in mainland U.S.A. I was contacted on the cruise ship by M.B.N.A within 24 hours of this happening a new card was waiting for me when I got home and they transferred £5000 credit from my primary card on to my second M.B.N.A card to tide me through the holiday.

I get my card free with my Plat card (only free for the basic cardholder,not free for mrs as a supp plat card holder)
Mrs gets her P+ for approx £30 because she has her own free amex blue card.This reduced fee is offered if you have any AMEX card.

After your £10k spend (this has to be in the year no spend carried over)you get a 241 voucher,it must be used within 1 year and outbound travel started in this year.Only one 241 voucher awarded per year per account.Whatever reward ticket you buy with miles in whatever class you get another ticket for free in the same class on the same flight,this only applies on BA flights no OW partners or codeshares.

Since switching from VS April 2005 we have used 3X 241 vouchers no problems,saving 540k miles.

So as I have Amex gold I should qualify for the £30 P+ card. Well that is totally different then. It certainly doesn't say that on the BA site, well as far as I could see.

Time to ring the helpline I think.

yep its £30ish with any amex card, reason I am not certain is, like a plonker I got mrs jags P+ card without first getting the blue card so it cost £120,her renewal comes on this months statement.Did let them know she now has the blue card.
