Hi all,

I've got a trip booked to Vegas this November and would like to try my hand at the poker while over there. Do people have recommendations for a strip or near-strip poker room that offers low stakes and isn't populated by sharks? :)

Cheers,

Darryl

You could try the Excalibur or the Strat, both have low limit games and the shark's shouldn't be to bad.The off strip casino's will have local's in them that just love tourist's who have never played before.

The Strat does offer lesson's and low limit tournements which may be a good way to start.

Disclaimer:I do work at the Strat.

agree with jetwet - strats a good bet - relaxed and small - prob. a great place to begin.

excalibur - since the poker room has been remodelled - is bigger and may get the occasional shark - I have seen Scotty Nguyen hanging around exclaibur before - so may be the next step after strat.

Thanks for the info, chaps :) What are the Strat. and Excalibur like for STT/MTT's?

Depending on how many yards of Margarita I have in me at the time of arrival, these might prove to be the safest way for me and the wife to avoid getting eaten by sharks in the cash games! :)

note sure - BJ my game - I spose I would go for single table - but if you're unlucky you could still get eaten:D!!

excalibur's new poker room is open now, and as far as I know, its kinda busy becuase they've reduced the amount of tables - its right on the casino floor. Try strat - its small but friendly.

you could always put your sunglasses and hat on and try some of the legendary poker rooms elsewhere in Vegas....[8D][8D]

good luck[y]

The Strat right now is under going some major renovation, the poker room has moved to the other side of the sports book, means nothing if you've never been there I know but trying to be helpful.

Jetwet - what's now at the old Poker Room ?

and changing the subject slightly (do apologize) is the new high-limit area gonna happen at Oasis Bar area?

should be pretty cool when the nightclub and center bar are open as well. glad to hear the changes are now in full swing at the Strat - [^](even the infamous 'armadillo' wall is coming down at long last).

right now there is nothing where the old poker room was,it's a construction site.

The machines have all been cleared away so the center bar can be built and the tables moved.

It has dawned on someone that the Oasis bar brings in close to $3m a year in rev,so the high limits area is now going to go where the G35 is sitting.
