Last November I booked a round trip between HKG and SIN as part of a tier point run. Everything was hunky-dory. We booked the flights, put in our FC numbers, selected our seats. The only thing we couldn't do was Book the Cook. [:(] The confirmation email came back to us complete with booking reference and I printed off the confirmation page on the website. All was well - or so I thought.

A couple of months later I was having a look at the confirmation page and against the place marked "Seats" was "None selected" That certainly wasn't true. I only wish Aer John would apply himself to his studies in the same way he did to seat selection. [:w] I decided to go into the website and look at my booking to amend this if necessary. In any case I wanted to Book the Cook. The only problem was that it wouldn't let me in unless I joined Krisflyer unless there is some little link I have overlooked. I was reluctant to do so as I wanted my miles - and more importantly my TPs - on my FC account but needs must when the devil drives and so I joined. I might as well have saved myself the effort and the angst. There was no way I could pull up my booking. It wasn't linked and there was nowhere to enter my booking reference unless I'm having a blonde (or should that be Senior?) moment. [:I]

I could probably leave it in the lap of the gods and hope it is all right - which it probably is, well the seat assignment in any case. Presumably the question of which miles account can be sorted out at the airport. However the point of booking any new place or airline well in advance is the ability to drool over it in exquisite anticipation of the delights to come. Fretting over it shouldn't be an option and I certainly don't want any nasty shocks. [:0]

So, dear V-Flyers, what do you recommend? Is there any way I can view and amend my booking while preserving the "virginity" of my FC account and not find myself trapped by Krisflyer? Oh enjoy the delights of my own specially cooked meal?

You can't change/view your SQ flight online unless it's registered to a KrisFlyer number - I have the same issue with mine in October.

You can, however, view the BTC menus online by selecting your departure airport here. You can then book the actual meals by calling this number : 0 208 7502708.

(Well, it's the one I used, anyway... [:w])

You can also pull up your SQ flight if you have the CheckMyTrip reference here.

Presumably then, if it's not registered to a Krisflyer number my "Virginity" is intact?

Thanks for the info, Paul. Much appreciated. I presume the phone number you gave is in the UK?

Thanks also for the link the Checkmytrip.com. The only reference I have is the SQ reference which I don't think is an Amadeus one - or is it? [?]

Yup - I got through to a very helpful lady in the UK who booked mine, it's a greater London number. Just noticed there IS an Irish one: +353 1 6710722, but it's a "General" number, so not sure if it's any use...

As for the checkmytrip, hmm.

I just checked mine, and retrieved my actual SQ booking number from within my Amadeus reservation. No, that doesn't work in checkmytrip.com, or viewtrip.com, or virtuallythere.com

Eww... Sorry! [:#]

Although the same lady that sorted out my food also booked my seats over the phone. [y] (Just have seatguru.com handy when you call ;))
