I am going on a flight out of New york on Sunday and I was wondering if I could take a few pictures inflight. Will there be any problems.. Since my camera can turn off its flash... Can anyone give me some advice. Since I want to remember this flight being my first ever long haul flight.

You should be OK but I'd make sure you do ask the FSM first.

There shouldn't be a problem if you are discrete and don't photograph people directly.

Without wishing to appear dense - how did you get from Jamaica to New York without a long haul flight?

What is the FSM? I am bad at terms like this please enlighten me..
And I register a long haul flight in my mind as longer than 4 hours.....

FSM=Flight services Manager - the person in charge in the customer part of the plane.

Remember, if you want to publish on v-flyer and there are people in the picture, please check they don't mind.

I really am not looking to take pictures of anyone....I will be by myself in a window seat most likely. I hate to be a bother to others. So I wont really take any pictures of anyone.
Um I think I will ask previous to the flight if I may take pictures or even ask a F/A....not sure yet anything can change.

No one will mind even if you use the flash (I don't see it being succesful otherwise as it'll be backlit from the window) for a couple of pics of yourself on the plane.

If you want a general view of the cabin then go to the back and shoot forward - you want get a sea of unwanted faces then!!

Thanks I hope in my time in the plane that I get a few shots like that and maybe explore what ever the plane has in store.

I discretly take photos on most flights,my little Canon IXUSi seems to cope quite well with the flash off.If someone was using flash often in the cabin it would tick me off.

Agree with jaguarpig here. Whenever I have taken on board pictures for my v-flyer trip reports, they have always been taken discreetly (so as not to invade peoples privacy), and with the flash off.

I agree with the anti flash thing but, for a couple of snaps it's no big deal on a day flight.

I took photos with the flash but, out of the window when the sun was setting with planes taking off when we landed in Fort Lauderdale last week (due to Miami being closed because of storms).I have to say they have come out really well but, I would rather not have landed in FTL.
I have seen passengers ask other passengers to take photos of them especially if it is their first time travelling in PE or in UC.
I would rather have a few flashes than screaming babies whose parents ignore them.

AH lol. Well I might ask the FSM but is he/she available before the flight because being a minor I most likely will be ushered to my seat at the begining of the flight and wont really be allowed to roam looking for the FSM before the plane has taken off safely.

You know, not everything happens to you because you're a minor - what you describe happens to everyone ;)

Cheers
