The best visa / mastercard reward card

As the FC mastercard is now disappearing what reward visa / mastercard's do people recommend to use on those occasions where the new VS amex is not accepted ?

I can't imagine buying something on a card and not getting any points / miles[}:)].

Possible options i've come accross are the Hilton Honors mastercard, BMI or Worldpoints/BAA cards. Any other Ideas ?

I will probably end up with a BA card,I was praying that VS would offer a card in the US other than Amex or Diner's but itdoes not look like that is going to happen [:#].

Good question! I was thinking the same myself.

BMI mastercard, plus when you take it out you get 20,000 miles [y]

To be honest I doubt I'll be keeping the amex card, so BMI seems to be the best aternative

Just checked up on the BMI Mastercard.

Looks great - 20k miles to start, 1.5 miles per £1 spent (2 miles for fee card), the BMI redemption rates on VS are lower than using VS miles and for BMI flights they have a reduced redemption rate for kids (VS take notice).

Now all I have to do is join the frequent flyer programme - even though I never fly with them.

Woohoo!!

P.S. Looking at the redemption possibilities I am amazed at how good they are. As an example - 100k for any Star Alliance flight to Australia but Business is only 1.5x so 150k and you can do half and hald with cash so 75k miles + £510 for Oz return in Business.

It is a very good programme, but it makes me wonder how many people actually take them up on it? Or maybe they really do like handing flights out [}:)]

So how do you exchange the BMI miles for Virgin Miles ? Do BMI transfer them to Flying Club account?

Ah I'm not an expert but I am assuming you would need to purchase a VS ticket through BMI using their miles. Effectively you would have an extra pot of miles to use with BMI, Star Alliance partners and VS. You would not be able to combine miles between FF schemes.

I am keeping my VS mastercard right up until December, but will move to the BMI one then. Just as a note, the seats in J and F on the *A tend to be no where near as good as on VS or BA. Most on *A dont even have fully flat! [n]
