Just a quick post to respond to some of the impressions of the LHR clubhouse posted previously by our valued V-Flyer comrades...
1. COWSHED STAFF ATTITUDES -- I popped by the spa to buy some Bullocks body wash (had been very favorably impressed by it on my trip to Blighty when using it in the Revivals shower) and could not have been more kindly and warmly received and served. I spoke to two of the women in the spa and overheard another working with a caller from India on a pre-book and all were very pleasant and exceptionally professional.
2. CELEBRITY SIGHTINGS -- I did not see anyone famous to the public but I did see one individual famous to all of us: PatJohnson (and her lovely daughter). Pity they are Liverpool fans [}:)] but we had a good chat about the footy and Pat's daughter reckons Becks will NOT come to Newcastle as some reports have it today and I reckin she is spot on. Just goes to show you can be a Liverpool fan and still be very smart!!! [:o)]
And at the risk of seeming a Lothario, may I say that Pat's photo on this site does her no justice!!! She could have been a footballer's wife LOL And she and her daughter could not have been more kind. Hope they have a great trip to California! [:o)]
OK, since I am a bit of a crabby old git, I will make one complaint about the clubhouse -- it's cold as an abatoir!!! I was nearly tempted to ask for a blanket. I went all around the facility, trying to find a warm spot, but, alas, everywhere was as if I were on Icelandic Airlines for a January flight to Reykjavik.
A small nit, all in all...the staff here were magnificent (they even helped me find Pat) and the food, entertainment, comfort, etc., were all top drawer.
People ask me why I spend money to fly Upper Class and it's impossible to convey haw fantastic the clubhouse experience is...but the CH is clearly one of the top 3 reasons I fly VS UC (top reason being UCS, next reason being quality of service).
Here's hoping all of you fellow V-Flyers one day find your way into this extraodinary facility.
