Had this very conversation with head of customer relations at Cneturion this morning. No one knows when refresh will be happy - bit of a joke really.

Think of a month and then think of a year. Its been on the cards for a very long time - maybe they got some consultants in.....

Virgin Black doesn't dilute the Centurion offering but it does mean that a number of Cent cardholders will be shifting their spend to the new card. Centurion has been in decline since launch - I could write a whole essay on the subject; as it stands the benefits for me and my family still outweigh the annual fee, but it is shadow of its former self.

Thanks,
Richard

Richard, I think everyone who has a centurion could write an essay on it. Poor delivery, over promises, advertising that should be reported to the Advertising Standards people.

I know what your'e saying but I do think it dilutes the so called black mystique. Just like the BA premier which Amex offered free to Centurions because it was black.

This isnt really even a true Amex since its just operated by MBNA.

I also agree the benefits outweigh the costs - for me just based on lounge access at places like Tel Aviv where I have no status with anyone else the Priority Pass does it. Plus the hotel upgrades I invariab;ly get with Starwood and Hilton.

But for many I dont think this works. I have several friends who dont travel as much as I do who are seriously considering junking the card.

I just hope a relaunch addresses some of the issues.

AFAIK my BA AMEX PP card has nothing to do with MBNA,my bills come from Fort Lauderdale Fl just like the ones for my charge card, account shows up on amex.com in the same place as my other amex cards.
