To give you a bit of background; Our flights are booked on a Virgin & Air NZ combined ticket & were booked via dial a flight. At time of booking I asked for a 12 month flexible ticket. The tickets were booked at the beginning of May for outbound travel on 4 Jan 07.
Here is our problem. After calling dial a flight to get our dates changed to 17 May & being told they would have to contact, Virgin which they did. Dial a Flight got back to me & said that the contract I have with Virgin states that Outbound travel must be taken on or before 31 March 07. I have been told that this may be extended & if so then I can change our flights for the price of an admin fee, fair enough. However, the info I’m getting from Dial a Flight is that the chances of them exchanging the dates are pretty slim & if that’s the case then our other option is to cancel without refund & loose the best part of 2 grand & the rebook.
It would be practically impossible to fly before 31 March as my wife is due on the 18th.
Is it possible to cancel an outbound flight & still take the return leg?
Do you experts know of any other Avenues that I could go down? I’m *G member in case that’ll help.
It’s pretty important to us to get back to the UK with our new born as we don’t have any family our here & our families back home will be champing at the bit to see there 1st grandchild & niece/nephew.
Thanks in advance.
