G-VYOU has made her first flight at Toulouse. Expected to be delivered later this month.

Is this the aircraft named after a competition winner? Quite an unusual name Emmeline is.

Yes, the naming of aircraft G-VYOU was auctioned off for charity, Virgin Unite's HeavenÕs Angels project to be precise. See here or here for further details.

The winning name was to be displayed for one year only though, so it will be interesting to see what the aircraft will be called after that time has passed.

Thanks,
Sarah

I wonder if they will do it as an annual thing? Have another auction for Unite to rename it? 2nd time lucky Paul?

Emmeline is definitely different, I like it!!

The winner was likely to name the A/C after a member of their family -Suppose we could have had a Smith, Jones or something more common!!! No offence meant to anyone with a common name by the way..[:p]

I am glad it has worked to be a fairly unique name, bet the winner is really chuffed seeing their name there ....:)

I wonder if it is a mix between Emmeline Pankhurst and Seamus Heaney, the poet? Maybe the winner's two favourite people?! lol Just an idea!

Why name a plane after a bear with poor t-shirt taste? Beats me.

According to my source it's the other way around. Which seems to be the correct way judging from the photo.
