Hiya,

I'm in NYC on 14 and 15 June (full days) and would like to see any sporting event that may be on (though I draw the line at World Series Tiddlywinks and don't mention the World Cup either) - are there any websites listing what events may be on and I can choose what to go to?

Tried the New York Times but as you'd expect, it's got a section for each sport and not a general listings section.

Cheers,

Sahajesh.

I can confirm that you will have no problem with the World Cup.

1. You will be in the United States
2. The event is taking place in Germany!

However, football is universal so a change would be good........

If you can get tickets then the Baseball season is in full swing.

Yankees are playing Cleveland at home (Yankee Statium) on 14th and 15th.

Mets are away in Philidelphia.

try going to ticketmaster.com& searching...
Might take a couple of goes, but you should find a couple of events...
For my nights in NYC Id hoped same - whilst there was sporting events on that I could have bought tickets too, i clicked the wrong option somewher & the search I performed ended up bringing up theatre/concerts/etc - Ive wound up with a couple of tickets to see Billy Connolly [^][y]
Slightly bizarre given Ive failed to get tickets to see him in various locations around Scotland over the years & I finally get to see him while in NYC, finding the tickets by accident... Fate some would say ....

Good ideas all round, will try both links [y]. Never been to a US sporting event so might even write one up as a TR.......

Williestott,

Funny you should mention Billy Connolly, perhaps he's moved to NYC as Ticketmaster shows him doing shows in mid June :D.

However, I'm spoilt for choice on 14 June:

Yankees v Indians
Billy Connolly
Blue Man Group (never seen these guys before, what are they like?)

Plus there's an extra special of:

MasterBaTour 2006 w/MINISTRY, REVOLTING COCKS & SPYDER BABY [:?]

Decisions, decisions!!

On my very first trip to NYC (way back in 1999) we saw a Yankee's game. I'm not a big sports fan at all but loved this! It was such a great family event, the beer guy in the stand was a one man entertainment show.

I would highly recommend it.

Thanks to all - gone for the Yankees game on 14 June, may go to see Monty Python Spamalot on 15th.
