MPM loyalty?

now can someone help me out here, or am i missing something.
Flying club is a loyalty club the more you fly the more you earn, so you would expect to get the best deal?[:?]
So if i booked a straight flight with virgin from Manchester to Barbados on the 27th August for 7 nights i would pay £398.10 inc taxes should i wish to fly Economy.[B)]
If i booked the same flight through FC with MPM i could get the special offer price of £349 + 2000miles which will be deducted from my account, or the standard price of £385 + 2000 miles which will be deducted from my account.
Great both prices are cheaper! i've got a deal Hang on say i'm short on the miles at the moment[:(][i] id better buy some on the FC website 2000 miles = £45[:?]
So now my special offer price is £394 and the standard price £430[:0]
So where as my loyalty discount gone?
have i missed something?[|)]
if i have can someone tell me where[|:)]

That is MPM fares for you,there are times when it just does not make sense to book them.

However every now and again a great deal will come up so they are worth watching.

I've been keeping an eye on MPM's for a while now. That great deal seems very elusive, I cannot see that VS get much call for them. MPM seem like like this new text service - I cannot see why anybody would touch them.....

I too have been looking at MPM quite a lot recently, and agree that it does not seem worth it, maybe might find a bargain one day, but doesn't look good.

Just booked my mum a MPM flight today,

LGW-LAS.....Sept 6th thru Sept 16th. £372+2000 miles, cheapest fare was something like £585 without miles.

Welcome to the comodity market that is airfares. Marketing hype aside, it is all about bums in seats.........

Well I guess if you have to buy the full 2,000 miles then you currently have zero miles ?

As you said, Flying Club is based on loyalty and if you have earned no miles why should you get a cheaper flight[?]

Or have I missed something ?

Sorry mole... prehaps I phrased the answer badly[B)]. Didn't mean to have a go.

What I was trying to say was if you have 2,000 miles you can save £50 using MPM so its a better deal ( not great I admit). Its pretty easy to get that sort of mileage without any additional expenditure from hotels, flights, credit cards etc.

Buying miles is a very expensive way of getting flights ( An economy return would cost £750) so should only be used to top up accounts if your close to a reward..( Alright.. it may be worthwhile for an UC flight )

Contrary to many, I have found many good deals on MPM.
I have just got a deal for my sister and her husband to join us in Florida next year - they saved about £500 for the use of only 4,000 miles.

Not bad.
