I got got this freakin' email:

Dear Customer,

We regret to inform you that

- Flight BA0186 on 17 August has been cancelled.

Okay, so we booked our flights with miles, and now what the hell am I gonna do? It said it may be possible to rebook or cancel, so we'll try later today. But what gives? If this means we won't go on vacation it will really be annoying.

I hope you have travel insurance Nick.

The airlines aren't responsible for compensation when the cancellation is "security related". Any out-of-pocket expenses may be down to you to fund... [:0]

Like Paul said if its security related then BA dont have to pay compo because its not BA itself that had to cancel the flight instead they might have been order to do so by goverment or security officals.

Well i suppose thats what you get for flying with the dark side instead of VS ;)

Crisis averted! My mom just called and was able to rebook it for the evening (only the outbound flight was cancelled). It's not bad I guess, we usually like the day flights better, but let's just be thankful it wasn't that severe of a change. Although BA did say they were at the mercy of BAA and that this flight could be cancelled as well. I thank V-Flyer for this good outcome, because it's the reason I went to my family's email account and saw the message. We rebooked within an hour of receiving the email.

Guess I'll go change my countdown clock!

Thanks Bazz.

Hey Decker, it looks like the plane you arrive on on Thursday will be the plane I depart on. Maybe I'll see you.

It might be a little close. We're getting to the airport pretty early, but as your flight is scheduled to arrive around 5, and mine departs at 6, I don't know where it would be possible to meet, other than through the glass at the gate!

So far so good. I'll be heading off to the airport in 1.5 hours. I'll try to take some pictures, but because of the new security rules I'm not sure how far I'll get.
