Firstly, loads must surely be light enough to justify this, suprised that they have cancelled for the whole month though - Where is your source for this info??

Also, the LGW/MAN pool of aircraft is really short at the minute. I don't think we have found out why as of yet, this week there has been two LHR assigned a/c helping out on LGW routes. [:?]

They may have taken this decision to release some pressure on the lack of available a/c. :D

Due to a breakdown in communication, me & the friend I am visiting Orlando with in November booked ourselves on different flights from Manchester to Orlando & back in November (me on VS75/76 & friend on VS73/74).

Fingers crossed, the cancellation of the VS73/74 will continue into November so we can be on the same flight. This must be a first - someone wanting a flight to be cancelled!

It has surely got to be down to low pax numbers and the need for the a/c. As mentioned a couple of times recently, LHR planes have been having to help out at LGW which shows, for whatever reason (maintenance etc) the VS are struggling to manage with its current fleet ex MAN/LGW, and if the 2 flights worths of pax can fit on 1 flight then it makes sense.

Must be annoying however if you are booked onto one of the cancelled flights.

To be honest I'm not too bothered about being on the early flight out of Manchester but I really wanted to be on the last flight out of MCO. I was hoping to fit a park in on the last day to tire me out as I dont sleep on a plane unless I'm knackered

will they know already if Nov will be operational is it worth me ringing them do you think.

Don't mind going on the earlier flight but I want my UCS seat[:I]

Wondering what to do now, VH isn't showing any availability in upper or pe for the earlier flight and I dont want shovinginto y[:$]

EEG,
I 'phoned FC to ask them to check our flight for October and it was still showing to be operated as planned. Methinks we might fine out nearer the time if they're cancelled, although I'm optimistic that the flights will be busier because it's half term.

managed to check expert flyer, there is no way they could merge that amount of taken seats with the earlier flight, apart from UCS the rest of the cabins look 80% booked

Remember only around 60-70% of economy is available to pre-assign, EGG.

80% of 60% of seats is less than half the plane... [:I]

No useful contribution to the debate but I hope it all gets resolved to everyone's satisfaction. When you're treating the flight as part of the holiday (and paying a large amount extra to make the 8-11 hrs as enjoyable as possible) it must be a p*ss*r to have the best laid plans thrown into disarray.

You say that Paul, but its better to know now so at least you can change your plans in advance, than have your flight cancelled/severly delayed at the airport because VS have not got enough operational metal to make the flight run on time/operate at all. I always say, whatever the sitaution its best to know, at least than you can prepare for it.

Don't get me wrong I wasn't saying that VS shouldn't be planning well in advance to best manage the demands across their fleet and making those plans known even if it leads to flights being changed. It was more an empathetic (or is it sympathetic ?) response to EGG's comment about the possibility of being downgraded.

Just checked on VS site for our flight in late September on VS075. Available seats have reduced dramatically over the last few days, so looks like the VS073(?) has been bumped to the earlier flight.

You are right, the cancelled VS073/074 pax have been moved to the VS075/076, thus the reason why your flight will now be much more full.

Hi

Our flight on VS74 back in July was cancelled due to light loads, if they can't fill this flight back in the middle of the summer, what chance do they have of filling it out of the main summer holidays?

Just done a dummy booking on VH for my November flight on VH and the availability for Upper Class came up on VS073 but no other cabin, so I guess the flight must be booked up in EC and PE for VH allocations, VS075 did not come up at all as available.

I've just checked my booking / seat allocation on the VS website for my November trip & there is plently of space in Upper for the outward flight (VS75) but Upper is completely full on the return flight (VS76).

If VS continue to cancel the VS73/74 into November, what do they do where they already have a full Upper cabin on the flight they are going to run? (Admittedly, I have not checked the loads for VS74 on the 18th Nov - if Upper is wide open on this flight then there is not a problem, yet).

Just got back from Orlando on the VS76...was booked on the VS74 and normally check in at the airport but for the first time chose to check in at downtown Disney.....picked up the tickets and was just checking them as I walked away from the desk and noticed the time of the flight was 6:15pm instead of 8:40pm. When I went back to question this I was told "did you not know the VS74 is cancelled thru September". I hadn't received any communication from anyone from Virgin of the change, no call to the mobile, no message at the hotel and no email. Had we gone straight to the airport to checkin at the obligatory 3 hours before the flight we would have missed it!!

This is poor customer service and is really disappointing [:#], especially as we arrived home there was a message on the answer phone timed at 5 September saying they were trying to get in touch .....why call us in the UK when they know we are in the States(We had been into the States since 25 Aug), why not use the API info to try and contact us or send us an email?

We plan to write in and complain do you think it is worth it as it messed up our whole plans for the day.
