You clearly didn't see any value in keeping it, so I guess your usage and requirement for its services had declined. Maybe if you used it more they would have tried.

You're probably right. A few years ago I was putting a hell of a lot of spend through it. These days it's just a trickle.

When I was younger I always thought I wanted one of these, my Uncle had one, changed my mind when I realised how I got one and the costs involved[:0]

I've just cancelled my Lloyds Premier card in similar circumstances. The 'Premier' brand for Lloyds has been stepped down to just being another 'monthly fee' account, rather than something special.

Benefits eroded ( Concierge service, cashback, discounted Priority Pass all now gone), a change between card suppliers that resulted in new on-line arrangements, poor communications, a website that has been taken away, was all enough to push me over the edge.

I don't think Lloyds were too bothered as they've launched ( surprise surprise ) their new Premier Amex card, with a monthly fee of £4.95 [:0]

I think more and more people are looking for good value / features and there's so much choice available now.

Thanks,

David.

I have several V-Flyer friends in London whose cards I ask to see whenever I visit! With the new $250,000 annual minimum spend in the US I will never have my own ...

Since Centurion is invite only, can / do they un-invite you for not spending enough?

It is an option to them via the T&C's but I'm not aware of them invoking it yet.

Thanks,
Richard

So did you transfer your MR points or just downgrade the card :)

I only just get enough spends / benifits to merit keeping the Plat card. I have considered getting rid of it, but the travel insureance and FHR deals keep me for now..

Well not for not spending enough. The final straw for me happened today. I received a terse letter today out of the blue telling me that they will no longer approve spending on my account. I have been an Amex cardholder since 1989, and a Centurion cardholder since its inception.

It is not yet clear if this was a mistake, although I cannot think of any reason why they would want to dump me as a customer. They said they'd call me back this afternoon but they didn't. They agree that my account is conducted excellently and is in perfect order. After I called them they now say I have to wait two days for a 'decision'. Eh? What decision is there to make? This is now a no brainer for me. It will be "Goodbye, Amex". But not before I make life very uncomfortable for them.
