[:0] Nice!

May we all NEVER have that kind of landing on any airline, not just VS...

It just goes to show how safe travelling in an aircraft really is - and how the pilots are able to control the aircraft even when there are severe conditions - one of those landings looked like they were "floating" down.

Dont know if anyone else saw it but a whiel back Channel 4 showed a 4 part documentary on the design and production of the 777 including all the "severe" tests like take off with a full load and then stopping as the aircraft "rotated" and bending the wings til they snapped ( I think they got to 90 degrees or something) and lots of mid air stalls - if you were ever nervous about flying then it showed how safe these things are!!

i just found this onw which is even worse.
i think i would have thrown up.[:$]link
i think that you have to give the pilot a pat on the back i think he made the right decision. it just shows how challenging they really are.

Here is a link to an infamous landing at Kai-Tak. At the time this was the most difficult airport to land at, until Hong Kong built a new airport.

In my opinion as a pilot (non commercial) the pilot made a bad decision to continue the landing, but it does show just how versatile and safe aircraft are, even monster 747s!

I guess its still the case that any landing you walk away from is a "good one"

A very fine comedian once stated that "all landings are controlled crashes".

We've all had our fair share of smooth landings on VS, but on this particular one even the Purser seemed quite suprised... listen to the announcement after touchdown. link

I think its landings (attempted or otherwise) like the second clip that just make realise how much pilots actually earn their money.

Show this to a nervous passenger and you can forget about them ever boarding a plane again. Full credit to pilots, shows that they really deserve their wages!
