My searching on this topic did not reveal the specific answer I wanted so maybe you guys can help.

I am planning some of my trips for next year and thinking about which classes to opt for for some of the journeys. Do you know if children under the age of 2 years are counted as guests when trying to access the clubhouse using your FC gold card? I am considering travelling with 1 child and 1 wife ([:0]) and we will have 1 AU and 1 Ag card between us.

I know there would be no problem if we choose to fly in UC, but what if we choose to fly in PE on our outward legs from LHR?

Yes they do count as guests, although if the Clubhouse is not busy then normal practice is to let them in. However, I have seen families with two parents and two small kids, but only one Au card, turned away.

This is the policy and it is astonishing.

Astonishing? In what way?

I think the policy for children is (and certainly, IMHO, should be) the same as for adults, you need to guest them in by one of the currently accepted methods (i.e; guest of a Fc Au passenger or Upper Class passenger). If you do not have this to cover all of your travelling party, then no entry.

Yes quite often the CH turn a blind eye to kids if they are not too busy, sometimes they are firm and see it as taking liberties, so you may be lucky, you'll have to see on the day.

Thanks,
Sarah

Junior was granted access to LHR CH some years ago when we only had 1 AU card between the 3 of us but it took a lot of haggling,BA are very strict in their F lounges 1 guest per AU card full stop.

Where are you planning on flying to?

I'd still try even if flying PE - a two year old is hardly going to be drinking, getting Rhinestone Cowboy treatments etc.;)

They can and do charge for entrance above the one guest.... kids at half price- as they do not normallly eat/drink as much nor do they have treatments.

I think LHR charges £60 per adult and £30 per child if you are already entitled to go in. In other words, you cannot buy your way in if you are not already entitled (J or Au)

Multiple flights are required to LA, Tokyo and SYD. We always stay awake when flying west and although we love the service in the UCS, PE is more than adequate for these trips.

If they only allowed access for one guest, does that guest have to be accompanied at all times whilst in the clubhouse or could I perhaps enter alone whilst the OH looks after the little one in the main terminal and then change places with her. Or has this been frowned upon? (OH is FC Silver)

Thanks Juliet -- not seen this happening but it makes sense to charge if the CH is not too busy.

So far as I am aware yes: when you turn up at the CH you have to show your credentials to get your guest in, there is no provision for signing in a couple of guests and then leaving. Sorry, but I think you'll have to ask if you can pay.

If this is the policy for sure then that would be an ideal solution for me. Now how can I find out before I arrive?

Give Premier a call (on the FC Au number) and ask.

I have had 2 kids 'discounted' at NY on the basis of one Upper ticket between 4 of us - BUT , we were lucky.
