Gatwick Security

Does anyone know how the security at Gatwick is lately? Is it still taking ages to get through the central security/passport checks or is the fast-track lane open yet?

Also, are they still doing secondary screening at the gate?

Friends who have travelled recently told me that it took them up to 45 minutes to get through, and that they were screened again at the gate.

Whereabouts is the upstairs second security point?

It has been taking me up to an hour to get through to catch VS 43 of late.

Gatwick Security was fine last Sunday, no real wait. Apparently the fast track is open again.

Upper entrance, simply find your way upstairs and walk away from the entrace, you can't help but hit the security.

I'm led to believe it's upstairs land-side where the shopping area is, very close to McD's but apparently it's not always open.

Friends of mine flew out UC yeterday to MCO & it took them over an hour to clear security. I know that isn't what anyone wants to hear so, sorry but it's true. [:#]

I have also heard that Saturday morning was busy - There are a lot of B&S flights on Saturday

what time does it start to get busy ? im flying three weeks today to Mo Bay and want to get through pretty quick - should we get there mega early ??
